Criminal Eye - 1995

Tony Oursler's Criminal Eye is one one of his larger work. He projects faces or isolated eyes onto objects that therefore seem to come to life. Here the image of a human eye wich cannot close or blink is projected onto a smooth ball. It suggests ideas of surveillance, superimposition and angst in a media-dominated world. In the iris is reflected changing tv images and sound from television programs make up the soundtrack. The eye has lost the function of perception and become an instrument of vision that can see but cannot comprehend.
